Terms of use

Last updated

These are the rules for using Quest Alien, written to be read. By setting up or joining a family in the app, you agree to them. The privacy page explains what we keep about your family; these terms explain the rest.

Who you are agreeing with

Quest Alien is provided by Grape Digital Pty Ltd (ABN 24 643 279 663), a company in Queensland, Australia — “we” on this page. “You” means the grown-up using the app, and the family you set up or join.

What Quest Alien is, and is not

Quest Alien helps a family run chores, rewards and saving as a game. Grown-ups post quests and decide what they are worth; children do them and collect coins.

  • Coins are points inside your family. They have no cash value, cannot be bought, sold or exchanged with us, and are not money held for anyone.
  • Whether a child is given real pocket money, and how much, is entirely between you and your child. No money moves through Quest Alien.
  • Quest Alien is not a bank, a payment service or financial advice.

Your family account

A family is set up by a grown-up who is at least 18. That grown-up can invite other grown-ups, add children, and pair a child’s device with a one-off code. You are responsible for who you invite and for what happens in your family’s account, so keep your password and PIN to yourself and never share a join code outside your family.

Children

Children use Quest Alien as part of a family a grown-up has set up, and only with that grown-up’s permission. By adding a child, you confirm you are their parent or guardian, or have their parent’s or guardian’s permission, and you agree to these terms and to the privacy page on the child’s behalf. Please stay involved: the app is designed for grown-ups to set the quests and answer them.

Plans, payments and renewals

Explorer is free. Crew and Squadron are paid plans, sold as subscriptions through the App Store or Google Play. The price is shown in the store, in your currency, before you pay, and Apple or Google take the payment from your store account.

  • A subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year, at the price shown, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. You keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • If a plan is offered with a free trial, you are charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before.
  • A plan is managed in the store where it was bought. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, and nothing here limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
  • If a price changes, Apple or Google will tell you before it applies, as their rules require.

What your family puts in

Quest names, rewards, notes, names and photos that your family adds stay yours. You give us permission to store them and show them to your family, only so the app can work. Do not add anything unlawful, or anything that would harm or embarrass a child.

Using it fairly

Please do not:

  • try to reach another family’s information, or get around a PIN or a join code;
  • copy, reverse-engineer or interfere with the app or the systems behind it;
  • use Quest Alien to bully, pressure or harm a child or anyone else.

Changes to the app

We keep improving Quest Alien, so features may change. We may suspend or close a family’s account if these terms are seriously broken, and we will tell you why unless the law or a child’s safety stops us. The app can occasionally be unavailable, for example during maintenance.

Leaving

You can delete your account at any time in Settings; the privacy page explains what happens to your family’s information. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription — cancel that in the App Store or Google Play as well.

Your rights, and our responsibility

Australian Consumer Law gives you guarantees that cannot be excluded, and nothing in these terms takes them away. As far as the law allows, and apart from those guarantees, we are not responsible for indirect loss, and our total responsibility to you is limited to supplying the service again or refunding what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, and its courts can hear any dispute.

If these terms change

We will update the date at the top. If a change affects your rights or what you pay, we will let you know before it takes effect.
